The Recorder

The recorder has existed since the fourteenth century although its heyday was from the late 15th. century to the mid 18th. century. The recorder fell out of favour during the second half of the eighteenth century and all but disappeared. It was "rediscovered" at the end of the nineteenth almost simultaneously in Germany and Britain.
